Plugged in.

I spent the early morning working on the computer and suddenly the little light in the right hand corner flashed. "Recharge your battery!" My laptop is finicky, and I knew I only had a few seconds to plug in my cord before the computer would quit on me and shut off. I quickly grabbed the plug and pushed it in, causing the battery icon to go from red alert to happy green.

I thought of energy work and how quickly we enjoy change from Calyco healing. Our spirits notify us that we have a problem and we feel the alert in our bodies as we experience pain, fatigue, illness, depression, imbalance, or anxiety. We treat the alert during an energy session and it is just like being plugged into new energy after working off our old battery. The difference clients feel is internal, spiritual, mental, chemical, and physical. The changes can be seen externally and the client is able to perform at a new higher level. I am so grateful to know how to recharge my battery and plug in to the truths that set me free.

Energy Library Tele-Class

The more we learn about our world and our bodies, the more we can see that energy is everything! As I have studied and worked on clients, my energy library and menu have changed and expanded. You too can increase your energy library and menu as you join me for a 75 minute tele-class.

Continuing Education: Energy Library Class

Tuesday, September 15th

7 PM Pacific Standard Time

Registration Fee: $35
includes PDF workbook and expanded menu "cheat sheet"

If you attended Calyco training and have wanted to learn more about energy, this class is for you. During the tele-class, I will teach you the tools that have become part of my regular menu and how to use them during your energy sessions. The principles I will share with you have made a huge difference for me and my clients as we have been able to more quickly raise our vibrations in every situation. I will also teach you some releases that frequently come up and will be helpful for you to recognize as you work on family and friends. During the call, I will do some energy work as I demonstrate how I have incorporated these new tools into my menu. (This tele-class will be similar to a group call in that everyone will benefit from the things we plug in and release.)

Calyco does not require we understand everything about energy, but I have found that doing energy has become easier as my knowledge has increased. This tele-class will be like receiving the cliff notes version of the things I have learned since attending Calyco training in St. George. I think you will really enjoy learning about and experiencing these new tools. Plus, you will then be able to share your knowledge with your clients as you facilitate deeper healing for them!

Please register early for the call so I have time to get the call access information and class materials to you in a timely manner. As part of your registration fee, you will receive an email with a PDF workbook to use during the call. You will also receive a PDF with an expanded menu "cheat sheet, some of my research to use as a resource, and a list of affirmations and releases.

I am excited to share some fun tools with you and hope you can attend the tele-class next Tuesday. As always, if you should have any questions, please email me at ashlee@ashleemiller.com.

**I plan to offer one more tele-class in 2009, if you want to be notified when the second class is scheduled, please let me know via email.

Basics Booster Class

You attended Calyco training and felt so excited to help everyone you know! You had the basics of energy healing down and just needed to practice a bit. The weeks and months have gone by and now you find yourself asking questions like, "What did I actually learn? How do I clear such-and-such? Why could I do energy before and now I do not seem to know how?"

Perhaps you have reviewed your notes and are just not certain what to do with any of it. Under-utilizing Calyco is like sitting in a dark room with a lamp that is not being used because it is not plugged in! It is time to turn on your talents!

Renew your enthusiasm for Calyco and join us for a great tele-class!

Continuing Education: Basics Booster Class

Monday, September 21th

2 PM Pacific Standard Time

Registration Fee: $25

This new tele-class will put you back on track! During the 75 minute call, I will answer questions that have come up since you completed your training. I will energetically revive the knowledge you already have and fill in some of the gaps that seem to be missing as you have practiced Calyco on others. Part of the 75 minute call will also be spent clearing blocks and integrating new beliefs so you are able to freely do energy work yourself.

You were drawn to energy healing for a reason. Let me help you and join our tele-class on September 21st. I am passionate about Calyco and want to help you succeed in utilizing all of your talents! If you should have any questions, please email me at ashlee@ashleemiller.com.

Please register at least one hour before the call so I have time to get the call access information to you.

The Fly Lesson

Yesterday there were two annoying flies buzzing around my kitchen. I have no idea how they found their way into my abode, but I wanted them out! In the scriptures that morning I had read the following scripture:

"All things bear record of me." (Moses 6:63)

I take the scriptures literally, so when it says "all things," I believe God means ALL things. I had determined that when faced with less than ideal or annoying situations, I would ask myself how my circumstances could bear record of Him.

So as the flies flew around my head, I stopped to think how do these little bugs bear record of God.

My first thought was that flies keep us humble (they bug us just enough to let us know we are not in control!), but that is not the right answer. Internet research taught me that flies have a more important purpose than bugging us humans. Flies are tasked with being part of the ecosystem and consume waste and dead animals. Were it not for flies, the earth could be filled with millions of years of waste! So while I thought flies were meant to annoy me, they actually perform an essential service.

The fly lesson is that while we sometimes feel that we are facing an annoying problem, in actuality that very problem may be part of a bigger plan that is for our greatest good.

Group Call: Money and Finances

Do you wish you had more money?
Are you confident in the current economy?
Do you have thoughts that limit you
in living your best financial life?
Is money flowing to you like it should?
Are you trying to attract more money but something seems blocked?
Do you feel like your financial future is secure?
Are you connected to the positive energy of money?

Group Session: Wednesday, July 29
2 PM (PST)
(3:00 PM Mountain, 4:00 PM Central, 5:00 PM Eastern)

This group session will be held next Wednesday and will have huge benefits for you and your bank account!

On the call, we will work with your energy system to clear any negative energy related to your finances. If you have financial hang-ups that run in your family or negative attitudes toward money in your family background, we will clear that generational issue. We will be able to clear anything related to money or finances that is holding you back from achieving your highest level of financial success. We will "plug in" the things your energy system needs to get money flowing to you.

To participate, simply register using the Paypal link below. An email will be sent to you with the conference call phone number and access code. When you receive the conference call details, you can respond to that email with any specific requests for the call. If you would like something specific cleared or help with a certain attitude shift related to finances, please let me know so you can get the full benefit of the call.

If you find yourself saying things like "I don't have the money" then this call is for you. If you are trying to live a prosperous life, but feel "stuck" and things are not financially flowing how you want them to, you will benefit from this energy clearing.

Common Questions:
Can I benefit from doing a group session if I have my own concerns I want worked on? Yes! The benefit of a group session is that we will all benefit from the energy of others. If there is even one person needs to have a limiting thought cleared or has a little block about something, we will all benefit from the energy clearing.

How will the call work? We will do a clearing at the beginning of the call so we can begin in the best possible light. After the initial clearing, I will then just use my energy training to determine what is the highest priority. The energy tells me what needs to be addressed first, and we will follow wherever the energy goes. Prior to ending the call, I do a check to make certain we covered the things that were ready to be opened.

Do you want to win a free session????

I am giving away one free private session and a spot on my upcoming group call about Finances. If you are interested in entering to win, simply email me your answer to at least ONE of the following questions:

- What is the most memorable or best experience you have had in a previous Calyco session?

- How has Calyco Healing changed your life?

- What do you love about Calyco Healing?

Receive a second entry if you tell me your top ideas on how I can better help you and my other clients.

Please send me your email response by Friday evening (July 24 Midnight). ashlee@ashleemiller.com

Go send your email! Tell your friends! :)

I am excited to introduce a new theme for an upcoming group session! This one-hour session will focus on releasing any blocks or limitations you may have about parenting.

I love Salad - but not the Olives!

There is no life without disappointment and loss - things just don't always go as planned or hoped for, or even needed. If life is like a salad, I always yank out the olives, onions, and nuts. I don't rant about them existing - I just do what I need to do to make the salad a pleasure. Focus on an olive- and you may scrunch up your face all the time. Focus on the romaine lettuce and Parmesan cheese, and you smile all the way to your main dish. You get to choose.

True Change

"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

R. Buckminster Fuller

I love that a simple Calyco session makes the existing reality obsolete. True Change happens in an easy non-evasive way through Calyco.

Fear

I just finished reading Yann Martel's Life of Pi. The best part of the book was Chapter 56, which perfectly describes fear. During almost every energy session, fears are released and replaced with affirmations. Fears are limiting to our progress and performance. Do you have fears that need to be released? Schedule an energy session and live your best life as you feel free to become your best self.

I must say a word about fear. It is life's only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, shows no mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unerring ease. It begins in your mind, always. One moment you are feeling calm, self-possessed, happy. Then fear, disguised in the garb of mild-mannered doubt, slips into your mind like a spy. Doubt meets disbelief and disbelief tries to push it out. But disbelief is a poorly armed foot soldier. Doubt does away with it with little trouble. You become anxious. Reason comes to do battle for you. You are reassured. Reason is fully equipped with the latest weapons technology. But, to your amazement, despite superior tactics and a number of undeniable victories, reason is laid low. You feel yourself weakening, wavering. Your anxiety becomes dread.

Fear next turns fully to your body, which is already aware that something terribly wrong is going on. Already your lungs have flown away like a bird and your guts have slithered away like a snake. Now your tongue drops dead like an opossum, while your jaw begins to gallop on the spot. Your ears go deaf. Your muscles begin to shiver as if they had malaria and your knees to shake as though they were dancing. Your heart strains too hard, while your sphincter relaxes too much. And so with the rest of your body. Every part of you, in the manner most suited to it, falls apart. Only your eyes work well. They always pay proper attention to fear.

Quickly you make rash decisions. You dismiss your last allies: hope and trust. There, you've defeated yourself. Fear, which is but an impression, has triumphed over you.

The matter is difficult to put into words. For fear, real fear, such as shakes you to your foundation, such as you feel when you are brought face to face with your mortal end, nestles in your memory like a gangrene: it seeks to rot everything, even the words with which to speak of it. So you must fight hard to express it. You must fight hard to shine the light of words upon it. Because if you don't, if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid, perhaps even manage to forget, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you.
A simple energy session, either group or personal, releases the fears that keep us stuck. Calyco healing is amazing because you can permenantly release the fears that have the potential to torment you for days on end.

GROUP SESSION TOMORROW!!!!

I have recently learned so much about energy and am excited to share that knowledge with you in the coming months. I am in the process of revising my website and scheduling new events and future group sessions, but I cannot let another day go by without doing a group session!

I have felt prompted to do this session for quite some time and feel that time is of the essence. I apologize for the short notice. I was intending to resume group sessions when I return from vacation, but feel that this session needs to happen NOW. Maybe it is for you????!!! I hope that your schedule permits you to participate! I am certain it will be an amazing session.

Session Information:

Theme: Be the Best You
Tuesday, June 30
7:30 PM Pacific Time (My apologies to the East Coast!)

Lately, I have talked to so many clients that are in funks and are not feeling like themselves. Events on both personal and universal levels can cause us to not function at our highest levels. When we shift to lower vibrations, we are not our best selves. Tomorrow's session is all about releasing the negativity that has kept you stuck and moving your energy to a higher vibration.

Do you feel like you are just not yourself? Do you feel like you are "spinning your wheels" and not getting where you want to go? Do you have the desire to do great things, yet feel disconnected? Do you have stress in your life that is overwhelming you? Do you feel lost or have forgotten how great you are? This session is for you!!!

Because we all have different issues (relationships, weight, finances, health, self-esteem, etc.) that need to be released in order to be our selves, this session will include a smorgasbord of topics! As always, if one person on the call has a particular issue or need, the energy will be released for every person on the call.If you have a special need that you want addressed on the call, please let me know by sending me a short email. I will make certain that each individual request is met on the call.

Typically, group sessions are 60 minutes long, but this session may be slightly longer in order to address all the needs of the entire group. Learn more about how group sessions work here. If you have a specific question, you can always email me.

I know some of you have felt drawn to Calyco but have not yet had a personal session. This group session will be a great time to experience Calyco healing in a comfortable and easy way. Also, because I want to help as many people as possible, you may invite a friend to participate and pay for just one of you - two-for-one!!! Actually, to make it even easier, I will discount my usual group rate to $20. If you and a friend participate together, that is just $10 each for an amazing power hour!

Please register by 6 PM Pacific Time tomorrow (6/30/09) so that I have time to send you the call-in information. Register by visiting my blog and selecting the paypal link, I will send you an email shortly thereafter with the call-in information. If you have questions, please email me!

I am looking forward to tomorrow night!!! I hope you are on the call!

Thankful Script

I like the idea of completing this script to help change our energy from despair to gratitude:

I'm thankful for _____ and ______ and ______.
I'm really thankful for __________.
I'm thankful for ________.
I'm thankful for ________.
But most of all, thankful for __________.

I am not sure where I originally found the script.

Commit and Begin

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust

it is how you feel about your playing.

Time

I love this quote by H. Jackson Brown Jr.

"Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Theresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein."

Another quote I love by Alice Bloch:

"We say we waste time, but that is impossible. We waste ourselves."

Angels by Bruce R. McConkie

Angels

by Bruce R. McConkie

God's messengers, those individuals whom he sends (often from his personal presence in the eternal worlds), to deliver his messages (Luke 1:11-38); to minister to his children (Acts 10:1-8, 30-32); to teach them the doctrines of salvation (Mosiah 3); to call them to repentance (Moro. 7:31); to give them priesthood and keys (D. & C. 13; 128:20-21); to save them in perilous circumstances (1 Ne. 3:29-31; Dan. 6:22); to guide them in the performance of his work (Gen. 24: 7); to gather his elect in the last days (Matt. 24:31); to perform all needful things relative to his work (Moro. 7:29-33) -- such messengers are called angels.

These messengers, agents, angels of the Almighty, are chosen from among his offspring and are themselves pressing forward along the course of progression and salvation, all in their respective spheres. The following types of beings serve the Lord as angels:

1. Pre-existent Spirits. -- Before men were first placed on this earth, there was war in heaven. "Michael and his angel fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels." (Rev. 12:7.) All the angels here involved were the spirit children of the Father. The angel who appeared to Adam, the first man, and asked him why he was offering sacrifices apparently was one of these spirits from pre-existence (Moses 5:6-8), for no angels minister to this earth except those who belong to it (D. & C. 130:5), and up to that time no one had been either translated or resurrected.

2. Translated Beings. -- Many righteous Persons in the early days of the earth's history were translated. (Inspired Version, Gen. 14:26-36.) Enoch and the whole city of Zion were among these. (Moses 7:18-69.) These translated Personages became "ministering angels unto many planets." (Teachings, p. 170.) Many of the angels who ministered to righteous men anciently, without question, were translated beings. The Three Nephites, after their translation, became "as the angels of God" (3 Ne. 28:30), and have continued to minister and appear unto mortal men from time to time. John the Revelator ministered as a translated being to the Prophet and Oliver Cowdery in connection with the restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood. (D. & C. 7; 27:12-13.) It could well be that Paul had translated beings in mind when he said that "some have entertained angels unawares." (Heb. 13:2.)

3. Spirits Of Just Men Made Perfect. -- Part of the "innumerable company of angels" in "the heavenly place" are the "spirits of just men made perfect." (D. & C. 76:66-69; Heb. 12:22-24) These are the spirits of men who have worked out their salvation, but are awaiting the day of the resurrection. (D. & C. 129.)

4. Resurrected Personages. -- Many instances of ministration by resurrected angels have occurred since the coming forth of our Lord from the tomb. (Matt. 27:52-53; Hela. 14:25.) These angels, having bodies of flesh and bones (D. & C. 129), have played an indispensable part in the restoration of the gospel. Peter, James (D. & C. 27:12-13; 128: 20), John the Baptist (D. & C. 13), Moroni, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael (D. & C. 128:20-21), Moses, Elijah, and Elias (D. & C. 110:11-16; 133: 54-55) all came to earth as resurrected personages to confer their keys, powers, and authorities again upon men. Moses and Elijah, who the first instance had been translated, "were with Christ in his resurrection." (D. & C. 133:55.)

It is of these angels, and others of like righteousness, that the revelation says: "Then shall the angels be crowned with the glory of his might, and the saints shall be filled with his glory, and receive their inheritance and be made equal with him" (D. & C. 88:107), meaning that these worthy saints and angels shall receive exaltation. They shall be gods. But those angels who did not abide in the fulness of the gospel law shall, after their resurrection, continue as "angels of God forever and ever." Such group shall be "ministering servants, to minister for those who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory." (D. & C. 132:16-17.)

5. Righteous Mortal Men. -- Even certain righteous mortal men are called angels in the revelations. The King James version gives an account of "two angels" rescuing Lot from Sodom. In the account these angels are called "men" and the wicked inhabitants of Sodom so considered them. (Gen. 19.) The Inspired version tells us that actually there were "three angels," and that these "angels of God" in reality "were holy men." (Inspired Version, Gen. 19.)

Also in the King James version, the Lord is quoted as saying such things as, "Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write" (Rev. 2:1) such and such, meaning that the message should be written to the bishop or presiding elder, such individual being designated as an angel. (Rev. 2:8, 12, 18; 3:1, 7, 14.) In the Inspired version this rather unusual usage of the name angel is changed so that the quotation reads, "Unto the servant of the church of Ephesus write." (Inspired Version, Rev. 2:1, 8, 12, 18; 3:1, 7, 14.) This inspired rendition more accurately accords with the manner in which we ordinarily use words today.

Our Network

Remember the Verizon commercial where the Verizon guy points out that he is backed up by a giant network? It occurred to me that our ancestors are just like that. I also have thought that if you consider how many ancestors are behind you (think of a pedigree chart), it does not take very long to have hundreds of angels cheering you on.

My final thoughts are because someone I know that does not believe in the help of angels to the same extent that I do...He feels that if angels are helping us so much, why is there still a struggle or how can I have a bad day if I am aware of the help of angels. I have considered his important questions and come to a few conclusions.

First, this life was meant to give us earthly experiences and also to prepare us for our eternal destiny. It seems to me that those experiences are to build our strengths. Perhaps we will need those particular strengths in the future while we are on earth, or even in the life to come. It is valuable for us to learn we are stronger than we know, to realize our faith was sufficient - these lessons are not for God to see what we are made of (as he already knows), but for us to see we are better than we think we are.

Second, angels will not do what we can do for ourselves. We have our agency and we are capable people. We must at times, be like Nephi, and move forward not knowing beforehand how things will work out. But we have been promised that as we step forward and accept our circumstances, angels will help us and we will have our vision opened.:

All of you know that we believe in the ministering of angels. You also know that angels will not do for us what we can do for ourselves. For them to do so would be contrary to the order of heaven. If angels will not do for you what you can do for yourself, be assured that the Holy Ghost will not do it either. It is not the design of heaven that we be rescued from all difficult situations. Rather, it is the system that we grow up and learn to handle them.

The sense of being overwhelmed is very much a part of the journey. The power with which God clothes us in His holy temples does not suppose that the journey we have been called to make will be an easy one.

Nevertheless, the path we seek will always be clearly marked by the covenants we have made and the callings we have received. It is in the accepting of our lot and moving forward with what the Lord has asked of us that we discover that the Holy Ghost enjoys our company, angels feel constrained to join us, and the heavens open to our vision. (Joseph Fielding McConkie, BYU Devotional)
Finally, there are times where I think we could have additional help, but our stubbornness, our personality, or attitude get in the way. Joseph Smith said, "If you live up to your privileges, the angels cannot be restrained from being your associates." If I want to mope around and feel sorry for myself, I am not living up to my privileges and will likely not feel the help of angels. In that situation, angels may or may not be "round about" trying to bear me up, but it will not matter if I am too busy focusing on my lot rather than on the many blessings I have available to me.

And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto
you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men. Moroni 7:29

The fact is that angels are here and miracles are still happening, I just hope that my eyes are open enough to see the miracles that are happening every day.

While I strongly believe in the help of angels, it is secondary to the constant companionship that comes from the gift of the Holy Ghost. President Wilford Woodruff said to J. Golden Kimball: "Now, Brother Kimball, I have had visions, I have had revelations, I have seen angels, but the greatest of all is that still small voice."

The Game

My friend Amanda wrote this analogy and I thought it was worth sharing:

I've felt impressed to write about something we discussed in Relief Society yesterday. The question was posed, "Why do we need adversity in our lives?" I started thinking about basketball. (I know, sports analogies are usually left to the Elder's Quorum, but stay with me.) I think life is a little like basketball. We practice dribbling, shooting, passing, running plays, and defensive strategies so that we can become better at each skill, and a develop into a better player in general. If all we ever did was practice, what good would that do? We need to actually come against an opponent to test our skills and know what we need to work on in order to advance, and therefore be in a better position to win the next game.

In life, we spend each day "practicing" such skills as obedience, communication, compassion, faith, etc. But in order for us to progress, we need to come against an opponent to test our skills so that we know where we are and what we need to work on. The trials that come into our lives are just such an opponent, and by evaluating our performance within and at the outcome of each trial, we can know on what skills or characteristics our time should be spent "practicing."
For anyone who has played basketball before, you know that emotions can run high, effecting performances and ultimately the outcome of a game. Same thing in life! If we allow them, our emotions can hinder our ability to see clearly the big picture and stop working in areas that need the most attention, or cause us to give up altogether.

I guess my point is that we can be in control of our "game" as long as we take the time to put the right kind of practice in beforehand.

Good luck? Bad Luck? Who knows?

An old parable about luck:

A farmer's horse ran away one day and all the villagers came to him saying, Oh what bad luck you've had! Your horse that you need to do your work is gone!

The farmer shrugged his shoulders and said, Good luck, bad luck. Who knows?

Several days later, the farmer's horse returned, followed by a herd of wild horses!

Oh what good luck you have, cried the same villagers! Not only has your horse returned, he has brought you many horses!

The farmer again shrugged his shoulders and said, Good luck, bad luck. Who knows?

One day not long after, the farmer's son was trying to break one of the wild horses. He was thrown off the horse and broke his leg.

Oh what bad luck you have! Cried the villagers. Now your son has a broken leg. Who will help you?

The farmer shrugged his shoulders and said, Good luck, bad luck. Who knows?

Not long after, as the son was recuperating, an army came through the village and took all the young males to fight in a war in another region. They did not take the farmer's son because of his broken leg.

Oh what good luck you have! The villagers cried once again. Your son has been spared being taken off to war because of his broken leg!

The farmer shrugged his shoulders and said, Good luck, bad luck. Who knows?

Who knows?

God knows.

Too often we make assumptions about our current situation and we may or may not be right. It is better to trust and allow God to do what is best for us, even if challenges may be present.

Two Wolves

One evening an elderly Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serentiy, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

The Greatest Force

Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.

I found this quote today:

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity."
-- Gilda Radner

And it reminded me of this quote:

“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey … delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.”

Economic Impressions

Often during an energy session, clients have false beliefs or poor connections with money and finances. Calyco can be very effective in changing those patterns. I have also found that gratitude can change our finances quickly. I loved this post by Stephanie at "A Daily Scoop." I have had the same impression and believe Stephanie's words to be true. Here is the text that Stephanie wrote so perfectly.

Economic Impression

This morning I had an impression that I wanted to share. To give a bit of background, I have noticed our children doing more asking than thanking in their prayers lately. It has been bothering me. So on Monday we had a Family Home Evening lesson on how important it is to be grateful.

We talked about how we need to do better with this not only in our prayers but in every day life too. I pointed out how much more I hear "EWWW! This is gross" at dinner instead of "Thank you for making us dinner, Mom." We also talked about how when a sister shares something we need to thank her for sharing.

Another topic that has been frequent in our home lately has to do with the economy. Like most other families I know, we are trying to rein in the financial horses of our budget and plug up the leaks. I have been trying to be more efficient in our food use and have been very strict with the kids about not wasting food.

So part of our FHE lesson was on how we need to be grateful that we have food, even if it is leftover stroganoff again. We ought to be grateful we are not hungry and without food in our house or money to buy food.

I ended up challenging the family to thank God for at least 10 different things in every prayer. So far I am pleased with the results. They are remembering to do it and it has carried over to them thanking for things without me having to tell them to say thank you.

Now, to my impression this morning. The state of the economy has been on my mind. With friends and family and neighbors who are looking for jobs and trying to find ways to make enough money to live, I think it is on most peoples mind.

Our family has been affected as well. While Jonathan has done well despite the turbulent stock market, our largest investor fell into financial trouble and had to pull all his money out of our fund some months ago. And it is difficult to find investors for any type of investment fund these days, even when a fund is showing good results.

This morning as I was thinking about the economy and our family's financial situation, I had the impression that I needed to express more gratitude for the economic blessings with which our family has been blessed.

We are right now in lean times, that is to be sure. But, we have come from a time when the Lord did provide great opportunities for us to fill our storehouses, so to speak, to help us through this time. I am grateful for the wheat I have stored, both literally and figuratively.

I think we as a nation must turn more fully to the Lord and offer up our gratitude to Him for whatever blessings we do have before this economic "famine" will fully turn around. It is most difficult to think of your blessings when your needs are shining so brightly in your face. But anyone who has traveled much in the third world knows that every American is blessed. The poorest of the poor here have things so much better than the poor of so many other countries.

I wonder if there is a person living who could and would call the country as a whole to turn to the Lord in humility and gratitude. I am not sure there is. I think President Obama may have the ability but I don't know that he would do that. Perhaps the movement I am hoping for must be one that starts on a grassroots level.

Perhaps it will be us, in our own homes coming to that conclusion for ourselves. Perhaps it will be us telling our friends and neighbors of such impressions and expressing our gratitude instead of singing our woes that will turn our country one family at a time to the Lord and bring once more the sweet relief of the thirst quenching economic "rains."
